Rotary percussion systems: Micropiles

Micropiles are small structural elements that provide support and reinforcement to existing foundations or stabilise soils. They are generally small-diameter piles that are installed deep in the ground to transfer the load to more solid and resistant layers.

Micropiles are often built using a system of down-hole hammer. This tool is a drilling device that uses a pneumatic or hydraulic hammer to exert continuous percussion while the hole is being drilled into the ground. The down-hole hammer allows hard materials such as rocks or compacted soil to be penetrated and is particularly advantageous when drilling deep and precise holes, but in confined spaces.
