The intervention concerned the rehabilitation of the bridge extrados and related road surface, with a total area of 3.550 m².

Work began with the scarification of the entire slab to an average depth of 10 cm, with the aim of removing the deteriorated concrete and preparing the surface for the subsequent restoration phases.

At the expansion joints, intervention was carried out in a more profound and targeted manner: the’hydroscarification was carried out up to the entire thickness of the slab, about 40 cm, to allow the complete uncovering of armour in the vicinity of the joint. This was necessary because expansion joints represent particularly stressed areas from structural movements and water infiltration, which over time can compromise the adhesion between concrete and steel and promote corrosion phenomena.

The intervention therefore allowed strip and thoroughly clean all reinforcement bars present on the extrados, eliminating the parts of concrete that no longer adhered or were damaged. In addition, this phase made it possible to insert reinforcing irons, This is essential to improve the structural capacity and to ensure the durability of the subsequent rehabilitation of the extrados.
