The intervention was carried out near a residential area bordering the lake, in an area not accessible to heavy operating vehicles and where it was also not possible to adopt traditional demolition techniques, as they would have generated excessive vibrations and noise, incompatible with the surrounding environmental and urban context.

For these reasons, the rock was excavated by means of diamond wire cutting, used for perimeter detachment and sectioning, a technology that has enabled a’controlled, precise and vibration-free removal, ensuring the safe dissection of large masses of rocky material.

In the preliminary phase, holes were drilled with a hammer drill and continuous coring, with development up to 20 metres, arranged both horizontally and vertically on both sides of the cutting sections.
Such drilling, crossed and communicating, have enabled the inclusion of the diamond wire necessary for sectioning the rock. The positions and inclinations of the holes were carefully calculated according to the volumes to be removed, in order to ensure maximum efficiency and operational safety.

Once the rock portions were dissected, they were broken up by hydraulic spreader jacks and subsequently removed with excavator.
The rubble was then loaded into special skips and transported upstream by crane for subsequent disposal.

In total, the earthworks involved a volume of approx. 6.500 m³ of rocky material.
