Controlled deconstruction of motorway pylons

Controlled deconstruction at height by means of wire cutting, grappling cutter and specialised handling systems up to a height of 100 metres.

Client

SARC - General Smontaggi S.p.A

Location

Scilla, Reggio Calabria

The intervention concerned the controlled deconstruction of beams, pulvinos and pylons of a work up to 100 metres high, an operation characterised by extreme technical complexity and the need for safe handling of materials at height.

The first phase involved the longitudinal shear of load-bearing beams, then raised and moved by means of launching wagon, an operation known as svaro, which allows heavy blocks to be lifted and placed on the ground in complete safety.

Subsequently, the pulvini were sectioned by diamond wire cutting, harnessed and raised to allow the safe grounding of blocks, ensuring precision and control at every stage of handling.

Finally, the deconstruction of the pylons was carried out through horizontal and vertical cuts made with ramping cutters, designed to achieve blocks of predetermined weight, subsequently disassembled and handled with crane.

The combined use of advanced cutting technologies and specialised means made it possible to complete the intervention with maximum operational efficiency, ensuring full compliance with surrounding structures and safety regulations.
