The intervention concerned the upgrading of an abandoned church, characterised by evident cracks on the main facades, along the entrance and on the sides of the altar. To ensure structural stability and consolidate the masonry, it was decided to install tie-rods both longitudinal and transverse.
Two longitudinal tie rods were placed along the perimeter walls of the church, while four other central, exposed tie rods were placed in the transverse direction. The operation began with the drilling of holes using core drills, which were necessary for the insertion of the reinforcing rods.
Niches were created on the outside of the masonry, which were subsequently emptied and levelled, to allow for the correct positioning of the contrast plates; Afterwards, the tie rods were tightened to ensure the overall stability of the structure.
Finally, holes were drilled at strategic points in the masonry for the saturation injection of a cement mixture, consolidating the areas affected by the injuries and completing the structural reinforcement.
